Ellis sprained his right ankle while running out onto the field and jumping to celebrate, slipping on the catcher's mask of starter Drew Butera, ESPN reports.
"My right foot landed right on top of it and rolled it pretty good," Ellis said. "I knew right away that it was more significant than other ankle rolls I've had in the past. I'm beyond frustrated."

Nicolas Mahut was 'congratulated' by a reporter following his 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 4-6 defeat to Mikhail Kukushkin in the first round at the French Open.
"Congratuations? I lost," Mahut fired back. The journalist, having not seen the match, then asked what happened. Mahut wasn't too pleased.

More press conference fun at Roland Garros. Eight-time champion Rafael Nadal won his opening match and was soon asked if he or Novak Djokovic was the man to beat in Paris this year.
"You care; I don't care," said Nadal, who is trying to become the first man to win five straight French Open titles, AP reports.
"I don't have to write. ... So write whatever you want, whatever you feel. Because for me, the only thing that matters to me is I won today."
Djokovic, who is looking to complete a career Grand Slam at the French Open, also won overnight. He was asked if Nadal was the favourite.
"Yes," Djokovic said, then paused to laugh a bit at the question. "Yes. After eight times that he has won here, I think he deserves that role."
