MANCHESTER, England (AP) Bradley Wiggins will lead Team Sky at the upcoming Tour of Britain to help his preparations for the Road World Championships in Florence later this month.
Wiggins was unable to defend his 2012 Tour de France title because of injury but returned to action at the Tour of Poland at the start of August.
The 33-year-old Wiggins says "I'm coming into the race feeling really good. It finishes in close proximity to the world time trial championships, which is my main late-season goal."
Wiggins, who withdrew from last year's Tour of Britain with a stomach bug, will look to add the world time trial title to his Olympic gold from 2012 in the same event.
The Tour of Britain starts Sept. 15.
