FLORENCE, Italy (AP) Next year's Giro d'Italia will have three rest days and a Friday start to ease the transfer back into Italy after the three opening stages in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
The UCI granted race organizers the extra day following a request from team directors.
The race will thus start May 9 in Belfast and also include a stage in Dublin. It will finish June 1 in Trieste.
The full 21-stage route will be unveiled Oct. 7.
