The 2009 Tour of Southland is set for a thrilling conclusion.
American-based professional Heath Blackgrove holds an 11 second lead over Marc Ryan heading into today's final two stages.
Former tour leader Jack Bauer is third, one minute and seven seconds off the yellow jersey.
Blackgrove says Bauer has been the surprise of the tour and will have to be kept at bay.
He says although Bauer is now more than a minute behind he is still a threat to anyone within a few minutes of him.
The 79 kilometre stage eight from Te Anau to Lumsden starts at 9.30am.
