LE GRAND-BORNAND, France (AP) A brief look at Friday's 19th stage of the 100th Tour de France:
Stage: The 19th stage was the second and toughest of three days of climbing in the Alps. The 204.5-kilometer (127-mile) trek featured two HC climbs and two Category 1 ascents between Bourg-d'Oisans and Le Grand-Bornand in the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. They are known as HC (Hors Categorie) because they are considered beyond classification.
Winner: Portuguese rider Rui Costa secured his second stage win of the race and third of his career after a well-timed attack early into the day's final climb. German veteran Andreas Kloeden was second and Belgian Jan Bakelants was third.
Yellow Jersey: Christopher Froome. The British rider kept his lead of to 5 minutes, 11 seconds over archrival Alberto Contador. Colombian Nairo Quintana remains in third place and is only 21 seconds behind Contador as their podium battle intensifies.
Stat of the day: 4,419 meters (14,498 feet). The total amount of distance ridden uphill in Friday's stage. American rider Andrew Talansky of the Garmin-Sharp team measured it on the GPS mini-computer he carries on his bike.
