LONDON (AP) Jonathan Tiernan-Locke's former team insists it has a zero-tolerance stance on doping after the British rider withdrew from racing following possible discrepancies in his biological passport.
Tiernan-Locke, who joined Sky from the Pro Continental team Endura after winning last year's Tour of Britain, withdrew from last week's world road championships following a report in the The Sunday Times of London.
After Sky said any anomaly in his results would have been noticed before he joined the team, Endura said "we obviously hope that JTL is able to provide information that is acceptable to the UCI for their enquiry in order for him to clear his name."
Endura added that the UCI refused its request to pay to have Tiernan-Locke put on a biological passport in 2012 "in order to counter the rumors" targeting the rider.
