BEIJING (AP) Spanish cyclist Benat Intxausti Elorriaga won the fourth stage of the Tour of Beijing on Monday to take the overall lead with one stage remaining.
The stage win gives Intxausti Elorriaga a 10-second lead over Daniel Martin of Ireland going into Tuesday's concluding flat 73-mile stage from Tiananmen Square to the National Stadium.
"I am now ending the season very well," Intxausti Elorriaga said. "It was a very close finish, I could see Daniel Martin was very close to me. I went full gas to the end so I could raise my hands with enough time."
David Lopez of Spain was third, followed by Intxausti Elorriaga's Movistar teammate Rui Costa of Portugal, the winner of the road race at the world championships last month.
Tony Martin of Germany, who won the two previous editions of the Tour of Beijing, was sixth.
