Olympic champion Anna Meares of Australia broke her own world record in the women's 500m time trial at the world track cycling championships in Spain.
The 21-year-old clocked 33.58s in the two-lap event in the Palma Arena to regain the title she held in 2004. She set the previous record of 33.944s in November at the Sydney World Cup.
Lisandra Guerra of Cuba finished second in 34.015s and Natallia Tsylinskaya of Belarus was third.
