Wellington cyclist Paula Tesoriero won gold at a Paralympic World Cup meet in England this morning (NZT).
The Beijing Paralympics champion proved her class again in the 500 time trial at Manchester with a time of 43.417 seconds, just shy of her 43.237sec world record time at Beijing.
"It's great to still be at the top of my game", Tesoriero said.
"This competition is my first big international event since Beijing and I didn't come here expecting to do a time that was so close to my world record."
She is also competing in the individual pursuit and the flying 200 start, an event in which she holds the world record.
Tesoriero will compete in the road world championships in Italy in September and the track equivalent in Manchester in November.
