Alison Shanks has won gold in the individual pursuit at the UCI World Cup cycling meet in Cali, Colombia today to take New Zealand's medal tally to four.
The Kiwi rider blitzed Great Britain's Wendy Houvenaghel in the final, winning by nearly five seconds over the 3000m distance in a time of 3:28.994. It is not an Olympic event.
Shanks earlier won silver in the women's team's pursuit with New Zealand picking up gold in the men's team's pursuit and Simon van Velthooven claiming silver in the kilo time trial.
