New Zealand's Vanessa Quin showed her liking for the course to be used in August for this year's world championships by winning the women's downhill at the Oceania mountainbike championships in Rotorua yesterday.
The Tauranga rider, the 2004 downhill world champion, was more than three seconds quicker than her nearest rival, Frenchwoman Sabrina Jonnier. Briton Tracy Moseley was third while 2004 junior world champion, Scarlett Hagen, of Queenstown, was fourth.
The men's race was won by reigning world champion Fabien Barel, of France, ahead of Australian Sam Hill.
Credric Gracia, of France was third. The leading New Zealander, Nelson's Kieran Bennett, was fifth.
