KEY POINTS:
New Zealand cyclists scored three elite and two junior wins at the Oceania mountainbiking championships which began in Nelson yesterday.
New Plymouth's Edward Masters won the dual slalom and in the hillclimb, Upper Hutt's Gavin McCarthy and Nelson's Brenda Clapp took out the men's and women's titles respectively.
The junior men's hillclimb honours went to Logan Horn of Christchurch while Auckland's Sasha Smith won the junior women's grade.
The elite women's dual slalom was won by Australian teenager Caroline Buchanan, beating Britain's Tracy Moseley in the final.
Masters won the men's title ahead of Australia's Tim Eaton with his brother, Wyn Masters, third.
The championships continue today and end on Sunday.
