New Zealand cyclists barely made up the numbers in a low-key showing at the track World Cup meet in Moscow over the weekend.
The New Zealand men's sprint team of David Cresswell, Justin Grace and Nathan Seddon were 13th out of 16 teams to round out their efforts this morning (NZ time). Their time of one minute 02.426 seconds for the three-lap sprint was more than 3sec off the pace set by winners Germany.
Sole New Zealand woman Katri Lake finished her meet with the Keirin, where she was fifth in her heat and fourth in the repechage.
Lake was 12th in the 500m time trial and qualified 16th in the women's sprint before being knocked out in the first round.
Perhaps the best New Zealand performance was Cresswell's eighth in the men's 1km time trial in a time of 1min 06.483sec.
Seddon qualified 25th and Grace 29th in the men's sprint while Grace finished third in his heat and second in the repechage of the Keirin.
New Zealand's buildup was affected by the late arrival of their flight to Moscow and temporary absence of their bikes and luggage until a day before competition.
