New Zealand have ended the world track cycling championships with five medals after Shane Archbold and Tom Scully finished eighth in the men's madison in Cali, Colombia today.
The two New Zealanders looked to have recovered well after Archbold crashed midway through the race to initially finish one point out of the medals in fourth spot.
However a review of the footage saw New Zealand relegated down the leaderboard after losing a lap following the crash. The review also stripped the Belgium pair of Jasper de Buyst and Kenny de Ketele of the gold medal - handing Spain's David Muntaner Juaneda and Albert Torres Barcelo the world title instead.
The Czech Republic finished in second while Switzerland moved up into bronze spot.
New Zealand finished their campaign with five medals, equal with their best achieved in Melbourne two years ago.
