KEY POINTS:
New Zealand won two medals on the second day of the junior world cycling championships at Aquascalientes in Mexico yesterday. Manukau's Myron Simpson, 17, returned from a rain delay in the omnium to earn a silver medal.
South Canterbury rider Lauren Ellis won a bronze in the individual pursuit, to back up from the silver she won last year. Simpson was third after four events in the gruelling omnium - the 200m time trial, 5km scratch race, individual pursuit and 15km points race - before producing a superb display in the 1km time trial to claim his medal.
