Former world track cycling champion Greg Henderson will not be seriously competing at the weekend's national road championship in Dunedin.
He has been in Switzerland meeting with his new European Pro-Tour team, T-Mobile, and will arrive home tomorrow so he will not be looking for a top finish as he will simply be too tired.
Henderson says it is not possible to perform after travelling from the other side of the world and he will not be in any state to be out there for a win.
He will shift back to Europe in the new year.
Organisers of the championships will be hoping the gale force winds forecast for the region do not affect the riders too much.
Gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour are predicted so just staying on the bike could be the main focus in today's time trials.
