The world track cycling championships will be held in Stuttgart after being moved from China because of fears over the Sars virus.
The International Cycling Union said the event, scheduled to take place in Shenzen over five days from July 30, would take place in August.
But a BBC report quoted a spokesman for the mayor of Stuttgart as saying that the event would take place on the scheduled dates.
Berlin and Stuttgart were among the contenders to host the event. The decision to relocate it came three days after Australia said it would boycott the championships if they remained in China.
Sars has killed more than 500 people worldwide, the majority in China.
