Briton Mark Cavendish finally delivered on his position as one of the world's top sprinters when he powered to his first Tour de France cycling stage win yesterday.
The Team Columbia rider prevailed in a mass sprint at the end of the fifth stage, a 232km ride from Cholet to Chateauroux.
New Zealand's Julian Dean was in the final sprint and finished 10th to help his Garmin-Chipotle team top the team standings. Dean was 66th overall, 4m 19s down on Schumacher.
