Italy's Daniele Bennati of the Liquigas cycling team won his second stage at the Giro d'Italia yesterday with a powerful sprint finish in San Vincenzo.
The 27-year-old staved off compatriot and world champion Paolo Bettini by half a wheel.
Australia's Robbie McEwen finished third. Italy's Giovanni Visconti of the Quick Step team finished in the same time as Bennati and retained the overall lead.
New Zealand's Julian Dean finished 10th in the stage at the same time as the winner, his best result since a fourth in the opening stage.
Compatriot Tim Gudsell was 178th, almost 13 minutes behind. Overall, Dean is now 157th while Gudsell is 165th.
