Kiwi cyclist Julian Dean has had more misfortune in the Tour Down Under.
Dean suffered a puncture in the opening stage and things only got worse for him in the second.
Four kilometres out from the finish he was involved in a high speed crash.
He says he was able to get back up but unable to get back to the front.
Tasmanian Bernard Sulzberger suffered a fractured collarbone in the accident.
The stage was won by Team Sky rider Ben Swift with Australian Robbie McEwen the new race leader.
The race continues today with a 129km stage in the Adelaide Hills.
