LONDON (AP) British cyclist David Millar says he is planning to retire after the 2014 season, ending a career in which he served a two-year doping ban before becoming a vocal anti-drug campaigner.
The 36-year-old Scot, who won stages in all three Grand Tours, including four at the Tour de France, after turning professional in 1997, confirmed his decision in a video interview with Dutch cycling magazine Wieler Revue.
Millar says "I think my body is actually getting stronger. It is just I don't want it or need it as much as I once did."
Millar was found guilty of taking EPO in 2004. He returned from the doping ban in 2006 and won a silver medal in the world time trial championship four years later.
