New Zealand BMX cruiser world champion Sarah Walker spreadeagled the field to win the first round of the International Cycling Union ranking series in Japan yesterday.
Walker, 19, from Kawerau, who won the cruiser class and was second in the Olympic class at the world championships two weeks ago, took maximum points home from the ranking series towards qualification for Beijing, where BMX will make its Olympic debut.
Cambridge's Marc Willers finished second in a high-quality men's race won by leading Australian Jamie Hildebrand with American Steven Cisar third.
