Lucy Doolan was to the fore as the New Zealand women's cricket team outplayed India in the women's quadrangular one-day tournament in England today.
Doolan contributed a crafty half-century to guide the White Ferns to a competitive 201 for eight in their 50 overs at Southgate.
That proved more than enough as the Indians were restricted to 162 for nine, giving the New Zealanders their first win of the tournament after earlier losses to England and Australia.
Those two countries will contest the final while the New Zealanders will meet India again starting late tomorrow (NZT) in the playoff for third place at Aston Rowant.
Doolan provided the backbone to her team's innings, a patient 76 off 125 balls containing just four boundaries.
Only Suzie Bates, with 34, and Janet Brehaut, 23 not out, lent opener Doolan much support as Indian medium pacer Jhulan Goswami revelled in taking career best figures of six for 31 off a full complement of 10 overs.
India never seriously challenged New Zealand's total, with Harmanpreet Kaur topscoring with 33 before being run out.
All of New Zealand's frontline bowlers were tight, with Sian Ruck taking one for 25 off 10 and Nicola Browne capturing two for 39 off 10.
