The New Zealand women's cricket team have kicked off the Twenty20 World Cup with a seven wicket over over Sri Lanka.
Batting first, Sri Lanka reached 110 for eight with Leigh Kasperek taking 2-19 for New Zealand.
New Zealand eased to victory in the chasing with Suzie Bates (37 from 37) and Rachel Priest (28 from 26) putting on 64 for the opening wicket. Sara McGlashan added a quickfire 21 from 14 as the White Ferns reached the winning target with 25 balls to spare.
The White Ferns face Ireland in their next group A match on Friday night.
