The long-awaited resumption of the women's cricket Rose Bowl series between Australia and New Zealand experienced a false start in Brisbane today when the opening one-day international was washed out.
Game one was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Allan Border Field as persistent rain swept the oval.
The three-match series was originally scheduled for Christchurch but was postponed when an earthquake devastated the city on February 22.
Weather permitting, the series will resume at the same venue on Tuesday; the final match is on Thursday.
The annual Rose Bowl competition is evenly poised after Australia and the White Ferns shared the Twenty20 component 2-2 in New Zealand in early February.
