New Zealand's women cricketers have prevailed over Pakistan in their first one- day international in Sharjah after the Pakistani chase crumbled at the end, losing their last five wickets for 15 runs.
The White Ferns scored 240-9 in their 50 overs, thanks largely to 103 from makeshift opener Sophie Devine.
Pakistan's reply appeared on track and they needed 56 runs off the final 10 overs with six wickets in hand. However, two run outs contributed to the Pakistanis falling short by eight runs.
The second of the three ODIs is at the same ground on Thursday.
