Warren Lees is keen to continue as New Zealand women's cricket coach despite seeing them bundled out of the World T20 in Bangladesh on net run rate.
The White Ferns agonisingly missed out on a place in the semifinals yesterday even though they won three of their four games in pool play. They were level on points with Australia and South Africa but had an inferior run rate.
Lees, who coached the Otago women's side, was appointed coach in January after Katrina Keegan resigned to spend more time with her family and his contract runs out at the end of the month.
"I would love the opportunity to continue but that's out of my hands," Lees told Radio Sport. "I have absolutely loved the experience and the girls have worked really hard. I don't know what New Zealand Cricket will do - they might have someone else in mind - but my offer will be there."
The White Ferns went into their match with South Africa unbeaten after wins over Australia, Pakistan and Ireland but struggled to 114 for eight on a slow pitch. Sophie Devine top scored with 40 off 43 balls.
