KEY POINTS:
The second day of the State Championship cricket competition in Christchurch has been abandoned as rain continued sweep southern parts of the South Island.
Both matches -- Central Districts v Northern Districts at Lincoln and Auckland v Wellington at QE2 Park -- were called off without a ball being bowled after umpires had decided to review the start times at lunch.
Central had finished day one on 366 for five at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval, after a hundred by Mathew Sinclair and half-centuries by Greg Hay (62 not out), Jamie How (52) and Geoff Barnett (59).
Wellington were two without loss in reply to Auckland's 245 at stumps yesterday.
