India's Virender Sehwag fell just short of becoming the first batsman to score three test triple centuries when he was dismissed for 293 on the third day of the third and final cricket test against Sri Lanka yesterday.
Sehwag added nine runs to his overnight score of 284 before offering a return catch to offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
Sehwag's two triple centuries were made against Pakistan in 2004 and South Africa in 2008.
