KEY POINTS:
It has been a rocky road at Radio Sport this week, with staff unsure how to deal with the fulminating Bryan Waddle.
What started as the missing ice-cream joke turned into an employment matter, with staff warned about making any more on-air references to frozen dairy products. His terrific rant at Brendan Telfer ("Have you joined that pathetic group that seems to find humour in minor, trivial matters? If you want to foster the ego of some moron who thinks
it's very funny and masquerades as a cricket commentator, go right ahead") was just the jelly-tip of the ice-cream-berg. One producer had to be dissuaded from playing a Mr Whippy tune he had cued up for broadcast.

Somewhere along the line, sportal.co.nz became one of the more feistier outlets for sports opinion.
First Ken Rutherford had a pop about the appointments process at NZC, then there was this doozy from the always-measured Lynn McConnell last week: "New Zealand Cricket is facing its biggest crisis since the dreadful centenary season fiasco of 1995-96. . . It is all to do with the administration of the game and the leadership style of chief executive Justin Vaughan."
Zeroing in on the Lindsay Crocker-Craig Ross handover debacle, McConnell continues: "Comments
from the organisation smack of 'spin' and an obfuscation of what anyone can see at ground level is an administrative miasma." Take that.

PHOTO COMPETITION
This is it, the moment you have all been waiting for. The Herald on Sunday, in conjunction with the Beige Brigade, have a bumper prize pack to give away to the reader who has taken the best photo while at the cricket this season.
The photo need not be game-related but has to be taken from inside a ground. It can involve partial nudity but should avoid dangly bits.
The prize pack will include some beige clothing, a stubbie-cooler, a helmet that does not meet safety requirements and a groin protector worn by a senior club cricketer of our choosing. Best of all, good pics will be run on www.beigebrigade.co.nz and great ones will be run here.
