KEY POINTS:
I always find it weird living out of a suitcase for long periods of time.
It's one thing to go on holiday for a week, but two-and-a-half months of laundromats and hotel food while you're working can be frustrating, despite the exotic location.
Palm trees and banana daquiris don't wash your clothes for you.
If I'm feeling slightly displaced, so must the New Zealanders out on the field right now.
In their red uniforms with black sleeves they certainly look striking, but they must have mixed feelings as they run after the balls being bashed around the park by the other Kiwis – the ones playing for New Zealand.
Both the Canadian-Kiwis play or have played for provincial New Zealand teams, but have not made the grade to wear a Black Cap.
They're making do with red ones instead.
That's great for Canada but I can't help but wonder if the players feel odd about it.
I'm not sure what they do to overcome displacement sensations but I know how to conquer mine.
Last night, instead of yet another outrageously expensive dinner at yet another restaurant, I went to the supermarket and stocked up on meat and vegetables.
I took over the kitchen in someone else's villa and, eventually, eight New Zealanders, Englishmen and Aussies sat down to a home cooked feed and a Kiwiana sing-a-long.
It was a welcome change from Tiffany and Rick Astley (both played repeatedly here at St Lucia's Beausejour Cricket Ground) and it was fun to relax with some new friends.
By the end of the weekend we will have all moved on to other Caribbean islands, to find new laundromats and restaurants, and unpack our suitcases all over again.
