Cricket World Cup: English media react to loss
Here's how it currently stands.
Pool A
New Zealand - 10 points
Have secured first place with one game remaining against Bangladesh.
Australia - 7 points
All but secured second place with a 64-run win over Sri Lanka on Sunday. Australia face Scotland in their final game on Saturday. Will finish second wth win over Scotland. Can finish as low as fourth with defeat to Scotland, followed by Sri Lanka beating Scotland and Bangladesh beat New Zealand.
Bangladesh - 7 points
Hold third after last night's win. Face New Zealand in final game. Have won the seven games against the Black Caps - all in the subcontinent. A win over New Zealand and a rained-out game between Australia-Scotland could see Bangladesh steal second spot. As would a rained-out game against New Zealand with a shock Australian loss to Scotland. Defeat to New Zealand and Sri Lanka victory over Scotland.
Sri Lanka - 6 points
Sit fourth and most likely will finish third with a win over Scotland and a Bangladesh defeat to New Zealand. Sri Lanka can finish as high as second with a win over Scotland along with Bangladesh and Austrlaia both losing their final fixtures. A defeat to Scotland or even a rained out game will see Sri Lanka finish bottom of the group.
- England play Afghanistan in their final pool match in Sydney on Friday. It is expected to rain.
Predicted outcome
1st: New Zealand
2nd: Australia
3rd: Sri Lanka
4th: Bangladesh
Pool B
India - 8 points
Hold top spot by two points over South Africa with a game in hand. With remaining games against Ireland and Zimbabwe it seems likely they will remain top.
South Africa - 6 points
Remain second despite a second loss to Pakistan on Saturday. South Africa are tied with Pakistan but have a far more superior net run-rate. That is unlikely to change with the Proteas facing UAE in their final game while Pakistan play Ireland.
Pakistan - 6 points
Play Ireland in final group match. Need a win or no-result, along with an Ireland defeat to India, to secure spot in playoffs.
Ireland - 6 points
Also sit on six points, in fourth spot, with two games left against India and Pakistan. With West Indies likely to pick up two points in their final pool game against UAE, Ireland need one more win to secure a quarter-final spot.
West Indies - 4 points
Final group game against UAE. Need to win and two Ireland defeats to book spot in quarter-finals. If any of Ireland's games are rained out, or a Pakistan win over Ireland, then West Indies are out.
Predicted outcome

2nd: South Africa
