Black Caps semifinal hero Grant Elliott rejoined his team mates in Melbourne this afternoon after remaining in New Zealand for an extra day to spend time with his family, many of whom have gathered in Auckland for his sister Kate's wedding on Waiheke Island on Saturday.
Elliott's heroics against his native South Africa on Tuesday night, when he scored 84 not out and clubbed the match-winning six off Dale Steyn with two balls remaining, meant he would not be able to attend the wedding.
Team management granted Elliott 24 hours leave from the squad and after flying out to Melbourne this morning he has now rejoined the team.
Today is an off-day for the Black Caps, who have the first of two training sessions ahead of Sunday's final tomorrow.
