Cricket: Rain prolongs India's agony

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Bermuda were 17 for three in the eighth over when rain forced their stop-start World Cup Group B match against Bangladesh to be halted for a second time on Sunday. The match was reduced to 35-overs-a-side after rain halted play for almost an hour following a delayed start. They had originally decided on 41 overs before another downpour halted the action.

Bangladesh, needing only to avoid defeat to qualify for the second round, won the toss and chose to bowl first before rain delayed the start.

Sri Lanka have topped the group with three wins.

Indian hopes of avoiding elimination hinge on an unlikely Bangladesh defeat.
