Ricky Ponting had an ugly spat with team-mate Steve Smith before Australia completed a comfortable seven-wicket win over Group A rivals Canada.
Tempers frayed when the two collided in the field as Ponting completed a catch during Canada's innings.
Ponting held what should have been a simple catch at mid-off to dismiss Harvir Baidwan off Jason Krejza's bowling but it wasn't made easy when Smith rushed from mid-on almost taking his captain out.
After completing the catch the skipper threw the ball into the turf in anger.
Ponting's difficult night ended when he was out pulling for seven with only five runs needed for victory.
