Cricket: More players in spot-fix probe - report

Three more Pakistan players are under scrutiny for spot-fixing, according to reports.

A Pakistan Cricket Board source told Reuters that more players have been questioned over the spot-fixing allegations that rocked the team in their tour of England earlier in the year.

"The PCB today had discussions with these players and has told them to submit details of their assets and accounts," the source said after attending a PCB integrity committee meeting.

Pakistan test captain Salman Butt and pace bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir are under investigation on spot-fixing allegations during the side's tour of England earlier in the year and have been suspended by the International Cricket Council.

The PCB source did not name the latest three players to come under scrutiny.

Pakistan arrive in New Zealand later this month for three Twenty20 matches, two tests and six ODIs but due to the latest investigation have delayed naming their squad for the one-dayers.

The PCB have also delayed naming a preliminary squad for next year's World Cup.

"All the issues relating to the clearance of players came under discussion.The committee decided that further consideration of this matter is required," the PCB said in a statement.

"The ODI squad for New Zealand and that for the World Cup will be announced at a later date."

Chief selector Mohsin Khan told Reuters that the squads could only be announced once the board gave clear instructions about players under consideration.

"We need to get a clearance from the integrity committee for each player only then can we announce the squads," Khan said.

Meanwhile Pakistani batsman Asad Shafiq has been called up into the Twenty20 squad to play the Black Caps after left arm bowler Sohail Tanvir was ruled out of the tour due to a knee injury.
