ST JOHN'S, Antigua - Australia all-rounder Shane Watson, who left the field against Bangladesh on Saturday with a calf strain, has been told to rest for up to six days before next weekend's cricket World Cup match against England.
Australia media manager Phil Pope said on Sunday that Watson had undergone a scan which would be studied in Melbourne overnight.
"He has been advised to rest for five or six days. He will undergo rehabilitation work with (physiotherapist) Alex Kountouris," Pope said.
Watson missed the 2003 World Cup with a back injury and all of the last Ashes series against England with a hamstring complaint.
Australia, aiming for an unprecedented hat-trick of successive World Cup victories, play England in Antigua in the second stage Super Eights on Sunday, April 8.
The champions are so far unbeaten in the seven-week tournament which culminates in the final in Barbados on April 28.
