MUMBAI - Former Australia cricket captain Greg Chappell, who quit as India coach this week, was taken to hospital in the western city of Mumbai today.
Chappell, who had been due to return home on Friday via Singapore, put off the journey after he complained of feeling unwell.
"He has come for a routine executive check-up," Bombay Hospital spokesperson Ashish Tiwari said.
"He came to the hospital at 11am and the tests will run for another four hours. He has no specific complaints."
The Indian cricket board convened a two-day meeting on Friday into the team's first-round exit at the World Cup and the 58-year-old Chappell was asked to present a report on his 22-month tenure.
Chappell, who resigned as coach on Wednesday, complained of dehydration after the meeting.
Meanwhile, the board has suggested that Chappell remains involved with cricket in India.
Indications are that he will be asked to work on developing youngsters at the National Cricket Academy.
