The Windies are 256 for nine at stumps on the first day of the fifth test against Australia in Sydney.
Openers Campbell and Hinds gave the tourists a strong start, top-scoring with 79 and 70 respectively.
But from there the Windies collapsed, failing to establish any partnerships of any length.
Captain Brian Lara did manage to put runs on the board this time, scoring 35.
Bowler Stuart MacGill did most of the damage, ripping through the top and middle order, with figures of 7 for 92 at the end of play.
Earlier the tourists opted to bat after winning the toss.
