DUNEDIN - Otago were struggling against Wellington on the second day of their Shell Trophy cricket match at Alexandra yesterday.
Otago were 108 for two wickets in their second innings, still needing 55 runs to make Wellington bat again after they capitulated for 144 in their first turn at bat.
Robert Kennedy, in particular, and Richard Petrie extracted much more life from the pitch than the Otago bowlers.
Otago's first innings again emphasised the vulnerability of the later-order batting. Wellington, 87 for five, recovered to 307 all out. Otago, 81 for five, could not dig themselves out of the hole.
