KEY POINTS:
NOTTINGHAM - Former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent has been signed by powerful English county Lancashire for the upcoming domestic Twenty20 competition.
He will be Lancashire's overseas player for the competition, in the absence of Australian Brad Hodge and Pakistani Mohammad Yousuf who are both on international duty.
Vincent, who played 23 tests and 102 one-day internationals, handed in his New Zealand contract in February after revealing he was suffering from bipolar disorder.
He subsequently signed for the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) and in recent weeks has been playing for Ramsbottom in the Lancashire League.
Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said Vincent, 29, was an ideal signing for the shortened form of the game.
We are about to start a very important Twenty20 competition and we have bought in a player with a great reputation in the format who will add firepower to our top order," he said.
"He is an exciting player and excellent fielder, just what we need for Twenty20 cricket. "
Other former New Zealand internationals in the county ranks include Shane Bond (Hampshire), Paul Wiseman (Durham), Andre Adams (Nottinghamshire), Hamish Marshall and Craig Spearman (both Gloucestershire).
Current test paceman Chris Martin was confirmed as Warwickshire's overseas player this week.
