KEY POINTS:
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori is confident his injured finger will be healed enough to allow him to play in the first cricket test against England at Lord's in 11 days time. But he feared the injury may leave him short of bowling form for the test.
Vettori said yesterday he would miss this week's final warm-up match against England A at Southampton's Rose Bowl, after needing two stitches to heal a cut in his spinning finger which occured while fielding in a match against Essex.
The match finished yesterday with Essex 45 runs for one wicket in pursuit of 293 to win.
