The umpires will inspect the Basin Reserve wicket again at 12.30pm to determine when the third test between New Zealand and South Africa will get underway.
Consistent rain during the week in Wellington has delayed the start of play and although the covers are off at the Basin the outfield is still damp.
An early lunch has been called for noon, which will last for 40 minutes, so play is unlikely before 12.40pm at the earliest.
