KEY POINTS:
Greg Todd posted a career-best century as Otago continued to prosper in the State Championship cricket match against Canterbury in Christchurch today.
Todd advanced his score to 160 on the second day of the four-day fixture as Otago went to lunch on a commanding 485 for seven.
They had resumed on 352 for four this morning at QEII Park with Todd on 77.
Canterbury sought vainly to engineer a breakthrough but were stymied as Todd's fifth-wicket stand with Gareth Hopkins netted the visitors 126 runs at a good clip.
They were separated shortly before lunch after Hopkins departed for 38 when former international Chris Harris induced a return catch.
Harris repeated the dismissal in his next over to remove Todd, who registered his second first-class century, faced 244 balls and hit 23 fours.
English import Kyle Hogg did not trouble the scorers before being trapped leg before wicket by Todd Astle, who had the best figures among the Canterbury bowlers of two for 63.
