Auckland and New Zealand allrounder Andre Adams has been banned for one first-class cricket match after pushing an opposing batsman in a club match.
He will miss Auckland's opening match in the State-sponsored championship against Northern Districts in Gisborne, starting on Friday.
Adams, who plays for Grafton, was found to have breachedthe Auckland code of conduct when he had an altercation with a Howick-Pakuranga batsman.
"While exact details of the incident will not be made public, I am satisfied Andre and other players have been given a message that this sort of activity is not acceptable," Auckland Cricket chief executive Lindsay Crocker said.
Adams said: "I shouldn't have put myself in this position."
