Auckland and New Zealand allrounder Andre Adams has been banned for one first-class cricket match after pushing an opposing batsman in a club match.
He will miss Auckland's opening match in the State-sponsored championship against Northern Districts in Gisborne, starting on Friday.
Adams, who plays for Grafton, was found to have breached the Auckland code of conduct when he had an altercation with a Howick-Pakuranga batsman.
"While exact details of the incident will not be made public, I am satisfied Andre and other players have been given a message that this sort of activity is not acceptable," Auckland Cricket chief executive Lindsay Crocker said.
Adams said: "I shouldn't have put myself in this position."
