It is believed England batsman Andrew Strauss has signed with Northern Districts for the upcoming domestic one day championship.
Cricket Commentator Kevin Hart said while it will be great for Northern Districts to have such an experienced player, it might be to the Black Caps detriment.
He said with England touring New Zealand next year, Strauss will be advantaged from playing in New Zealand conditions.
Strauss, 30, has played 78 one day internationals for England.
Northern Districts are set to make an official announcement on Friday.
