KEY POINTS:
England batsman Andrew Strauss will be pressed into service immediately by Northern Districts for their State Shield one-day cricket match against Canterbury tomorrow.
The experienced opener, included in the England squad beginning a three-test tour of New Zealand next month, is scheduled to arrive in Hamilton tonight to begin his domestic contract with Northern Districts.
Strauss will play for the province in the State Shield and State Twenty20 competitions during January and February before joining the England tour party.
