KEY POINTS:
Former Zimbabwe international Paul Strang will coach Auckland for the remainder of the first-class season.
Strang replaces Mark O'Donnell, who has left Auckland to join the New Zealand squad as assistant coach to Andy Moles.
Strang, who played 24 tests and 95 ODIs for Zimbabwe from 1994-01 - and took 10 for 158 against New Zealand at Bulawayo in 2000 - will be assisted by former New Zealand opener Matt Horne.
The pair have worked with Auckland A and are familiar with the players.
"We are delighted to have such capable replacements on staff who can step into these roles as we enter the crucial final stages of the State Championship," Auckland chief executive Andrew Eade said.
The appointment is until the end of the season, at which point Auckland Cricket will review the coaching structure.
