Black Caps bowler Tim Southee has been cleared to play the opening test against England starting at Lord's on Thursday night.
Southee has seen a specialist in London over his sore toe, although coach Mike Hesson says it was always precautionary.
"Basically the result was pretty much as we confirmed. So he's had some treatment to his toe and very comfortable that he'll be right for the first test.''
Southee and Trent Boult are expected to be named in the starting 11 with Doug Bracewell and Neil Wagner battling for the third seamer's spot.
Although Hesson says the playing 11 has yet to be finalised and they may yet play four seamers if the conditions suit.
