Northern Districts paceman Tim Southee has been rewarded for his performances at the Under-19 cricket World Cup by being named player of the tournament.
Southee took 17 wickets and helped New Zealand to a semifinal place in Malaysia, where they lost to eventual winners India.
The 19-year-old finished on 11 votes, two ahead of his nearest rival despite not playing in the final.
The points were allocated by the umpires at each match.
